I Have Children I Have Never Met!

Did you know that?! It has taken me a few years to figure out, but I realized this morning while we were getting ready for school that I have never met two or more of evidently my offspring.

I am a slow learner. Everytime I ask - "Who left this food here?" My children I know reply, "Not me!" Then I ask for someone to take out the trash and one of the three in this house I have met will say, "Someone else can do it!"

So, today it finally dawned on me that I have never met Not Me and Someone Else (when did I give birth to these kids???)

Not me is definitely the slob in our household and Someone else never does his/her chores.....

So - just wondering -
Whether you have kids or hubby or not- what is the most hated household chore in your house?
Who is the best cook?
What is your favorite household chore?

Can't wait to see your responses..... EVERYBODY!!!

love ya all!

okay- i will post my answers:
in our house, we all have different hated chores. my least favorite is definitely LAUNDRY! It has been that way since I was five and my mom couldn't find my clothes that I was supposed to be putting away. I had stuffed them all in between my mattresses so that I wouldn't have to hang them up.

Rusty is by far by far by far by far the best cook - and he loves it too! I am truly blessed!

My favorite household chore??? - okay - so now we have established that I definitely have not had enough chocolate today. I believe it says in Hezekiah 3:10 that "Each woman must hateth householdeth choreths...to be the virtuous woman that God has calleth her to be-eth." Can I get an aman?

Ok- i'm corny - it's late - and you girls better post SOMETHING!!!!
love ya!

I am totally out of the ordinary I guess!! because I love housework - all of it. I love doing laundry, I love a fresh smelling bathroom, I love putting fresh linens on my bed ... I could clean all day long in my house (I guess I am in the right business! lol) The two "household" things I dislike is: grocery shopping (I never have time to do it) and paying bills (I work so hard to just give it away).

Cooking: both Clayton and I share in this and we both do pretty good. Even Jordan cooks, and he makes a mean hamburger!

Dorinda I'm with you I on lauindry.I don't mind putting the clothes in the washer but I HATE to fold clothes!!!!
Mike is a great cook but I am more versatile and will experiment. He has his specialties and so I leave those to him. He makes the best chicken ever.
I didn't know there could be a chore that you like..ha..ha.
I don't really like any but do love the way the house feels after a good cleaning.

and Laurie- you go girl! I love my house to be clean, love the smell, and the peace it brings to my soul (sounds like a song). BUT-I don't like doing it. so - you are in the right business.

I don't like to load and unload the dishwasher. I know that's an easy chore, but for some reason I don't like it. I also don't like making the bed. My thought is why make it b/c it will get messed up later. I know the room looks so much better when the bed is made, but most of time I just don't do it.

Jeremy is great with helping out cleaning the house. He doesn't mind cleaning the kitchen floor and I am so glad b/c that is another chore I don't like.

My favorite is cooking. It is really relaxing to me. Sometimes I wish I had more time to cook, but I take advantage of the time I get and make what I can.

Regarding the best cook, it depends. Jeremy is great at making fried potatoes and country fried steak. Yum Yum! He is also good at grilling. I think I can bake well.
Ok enough about food, I'm getting hungry.

Well ladies I am extremely new at all of this...I've only been doing it 3 months this past Sunday to be exact!

Brett and I both hate to clean dishes..we have a dishwasher..but its washing pans..(i was told they last longer if you wash by hand) Ugh, I hate it! Brett is good about cleaning the dishes whenever I cook. Which is always me..unless it involves the grill..then Brett does it. =)

Once I get started I love cleaning.Im the type of person who loves organizing and so spring cleaning...cleaning out your closets..I love it!

Ok now there is no chore that I just love to do. I received the best anniversary present ever last year - a year of housecleaning service. Jeremy's mom has been cleaning my house every 2 weeks for a year and it has been wonderful but it is coming to an end. My year is up - UGH!!!! It was a blessing while I was pregnant not to have to do housework. When Jeremy & I got married our agreement was that I'd clean the inside and he'd do the yardwork, but I'm thinking I got the raw end of the deal because he gets 1/2 the year off. No yardwork is needed in the winter, but he does have to endure the heat so I guess it equals itself out. Jeremy has helped me out alot since Bradley's been born so I'm not complaining. One thing I hate to do is iron so I don't buy clothes that have to be ironed because I know I'll never wore them. I don't really like to sweep, mop, or vaccum either probably because those were my brothers chores while we were growing up. Cooking is a chore to me. I should take lessons. I do must of the cooking if you want to call it that. I heat things up mostly. I don't have alot of time to cook and my husband is a picky eater. I will have to get better at it before Bradley starts eating table food though.

Dusting is the worst!! (You can leave a note on my furniture when you visit.)

I (of course) think I am the best.

My favorite chore is making the bed. I spray with some linen sent from Avon. There is nothing better than to climb into a clean made up bed.

Hey,
I cannot think of a single CHORE that I like to do. I absolutely hate to do dishes and I think that as far as cooking goes, Ramon and I run pretty close together. It all depends on what is cooking. Joyce

Having two kids in diapers I would have to say my least favorite chore is changing diapers and bringing out the numerous ones we accumulate in EVERY trash can. Of course, we started out with one diaper genie in each room with a garbage can BUT Andy enjoys taking off his diaper everywhere in the house so they end up in every room!
I am not a cleaner actually. I am one of those people that thinks do I want a spotless house or to spend more time with my kids. I choose my kids for obviously reasons but they are only young for a short amount of time and being a working mother I need all the time with them i can get!
Mark is the better cook in our family. I can do basic stuff but he can actually start reaching for random things and it taste good when he is done! I think if I did this we would all go hungry!
My favorite chore is probably folding my kids clothes (not ours just the kids!) b/c I think of how little and innocent they are and realize how fast they are growing up! It is sweet and sad all at the same time!

i hate to cook and fortunately Richard likes it ... God is cool like that ...
Favorite and household chore in the same sentence is an oxymoron ..there is absolutely nothing i like about household chores.... unfortunately ...so that is why God so graciously made people like Laurie and Denise and Carla so my life could be cleaned ...

I kinda have to agree with Laurie, I really do like to clean house, the smell of cleaning products etc. that in itself is relaxing, but only when my 3 kids are GONE! (they are 8, 6, boys and a 4 yr old girl who thinks she's a boy)I have a saying on my frig that says "cleaning house while children are at home is like shoveling snow while it's still snowing!" This is so true, but I do enjoy it all, except unloading the dishwasher, blah! My favorite is yardwork, I can let my house go for periods of time in the spring and summer to work outside. My idea of a great day is knowing I don't have to go anywhere, and I can just get up, clean house real quick, then spend the rest of the day planting flowers, moweing & weedeating, then coming in @ 6:00 take a bath and watch a good movie!!! I know I'm a bit weird but I just really like order and that's what I consider order! Oh, by the way my husband travels for a living and is gone most of the time, he's not just a lazy slug letting me do all the work, he help's when he's home. The cooking, I do it, as luck would have it, I come from a family of good cooks!! Although in the summer, when i've just spent the day outside, we eat a lot of sandwiches!!! Good to hear from all ya'll and thanks for letting the girl from Huntsville join your "digging club"! Kellie

YOU GO KELLIE! You sound like you would make a GREAT addition to my cleaning service staff! I am like you, I look forward to a free Saturday (which is rare these days) but the thing I look forward to doing is get up and clean the entire house, from top to bottom, and then take a shower and go out to eat. A completely wonderful way to spend the day!! Weird huh? Glad to hear I am not alone in the world, just too bad you live in Huntsville, I could use another ocd person in my business!

I don't think I enjoy any chore but I don't mind loading and unloading the dishwasher. It's instant gratification. It takes all of five minutes and the kitchen looks as good as new.

I DO NOT LIKE ironing. It's the worst. I stand there looking around at all the other things I could be doing. It's one of the only things that makes multitasking impossible.

I cook for the boys but I'm interested in more than quick meals. I'd love to learn how to make more things "from scratch". The boys don't care as long as it tastes good to their 9 & 4 year old taste buds. They're an easy crowd :)

To Laurie, my close friends up here call me "ocd"! organizing and keeping order is my thing??!! After reading other comments I'm thinking maybe we're just not normal!? But that is what I find relaxing, to clean and to do yardwork! Can't think of a better way to spend the day! How do you SIT and watch tv w/o doing chores first? I can't seem to do that... Have a "clean" week! I can't wait to meet some of you guys when I ever get to come visit with R & D and family! Kellie

Obsessive Compulsive Disorder... I think all women have it to some degree whether it's with cleaning or chocolate :)

Treasure Seeker said...

well, you got that right! so i am not ocd on cleaning or organizing (btw angel, you should see my office!!! you would be so proud - you too kellie!) but i am OCD! on chocolate!!!!!!

here's a fun question for everyone:
how do you know when you have a "problem" with chocolate? (answers will vary... not looking for one thing.)

my answer: when you find yourself digging in the couch cushions at 2 am looking for a lost m&m.

Anonymous said...

ha ha Dorinda, or when your moving and find m&m's under your bed, & you don't know how long they've been there and you eat them anyway!? or out of choc so you mix butter, sugar, & coco...now that's a problem with choc.! LOL kellie
p.s. I won't mention any names!
